I am living in Saiunkoku land now, other than the obligatory mugging. I've never seen such a fan-servicey thing like Saiunkoku anime eps 11 before. OMG the fan-service. Shuurei having a fever and Ryuuki helping her WIPE HER BODY. I mean like, what the heck, it's a show right on SUNDAY MORNING 9 O'CLOCK for goodness sake! And the Reishin moments ROCKED, HAHAA!!

Anyway for the heck of it I went to read my digital copy of Vol 2 of the novel (I gave up trying to read the whole thing and just skimmed through, reading only the dialogue of that chapter) and realized that they actually dared to cut out the scene where KOU KIJIN TOOK OF HIS MASK, WTH (when those ppl broke in from the window)!!! They cut out and changed quite a lot. They cut out the part with Reishin and Kijin talking after Kouyuu reported about the bunch of them fighting in Kijin's garden (eps10)!!! Where Reishin said, "…まったく、私の養い子を、あんなにいじめなくてもいいだろう、鳳珠" ("Really, you don't need to bully my adopted son like that, do you, Houju", Houju=Kijin's real name) And well! I think that line is IMPORTANT. It's a very important line to prove Reishin's fatherly love(?) for Kouyuu! Then Reishin and Kijin flirted a bit with each other, haha, then we got to know that in their year a lot of candidates couldn't do anything in the Exam at all cos of them all being captivated by Kijin's looks HAHA!!!
And before that, when Shuurei was drinking tea with Kijin WITHOUT the mask also got cut out!! I wanted to see... At least hear Kijin without the mask!!

And I realized that the first time Eigetsu appeared was in VOL 3! So... Er, why!? So we don't know that he and Shuurei met before the Exam and stuff? Oh, and with regards to eps 5 (was that the eps where Ryuuren appeared?) I'd like to know how they want to wrap the things up about the Imperial Examination. None of them (of course, other than Shuuei but that's not the point) knew Ryuuren before that... so I don't know how they're going to do that.

Other than that, I'm amused at how the word 酱油 comes up when I try to type Kouyuu's name in chinese. Well, it's true that the word 酱油 and Kouyuu's name have the same pronounciation in chinese... I'm tempted to call him "Soya Sauce" from now on. BUT! As Shouka has explained in Vol 3 of the novel, Kouyuu's name has a very deep meaning (Reishin's love, LOLX) behind it^^ I love his name. Rather, I just love the word 绛. It means a dark red, and I've loved the word ever since I read "绛雪玄霜" (it's a wuxia novel and has been made into a TV drama with 杨恭如 as 梅绛雪 and 陈炜 as 陈玄霜 under another name that I can't recall at the moment). Er, no link, yar.
